Did you know that I have a Friday night YouTube quilting show?
Well, I DO!
It's called Party Animal Quilting and the videos drop at 9pm Friday evenings, NY Time Zone (because I'm terrible at time zones). I'm on a live chat for the premier each Friday night and the videos are available to view as regular YouTube videos after that.
For the first season (quilt), I made a test of a larger quilt's border. I needed to see how the applique would look in the border before I appliqued approximately eleventy-thousand small circles on the real quilt. Once the test quilt was made, I decided to quilt it on camera and share it with you each Friday night.
The test quilt is named "KCMO" because the quilt was inspired by a shower curtain hanging in the Air B&B I stayed at while attending Quilt Market in Kansas City, Missouri in 2019.
I thought it would make an interesting quilt. At the same Quilt Market, I saw the Primitive Gatherings Quilt "Twilight Garden" and loved their color scheme. You totally need to buy their kit and make this amazing quilt. So I began appliqueing scrap cream/tan circles on navy blue fabric and the quilt grew from there.
Once I finished filming the first quilt, step by step, I decided that my party guests (that would be you) needed a party favor. I looked at all of the products used to make this quilt:
- Stone Tutti
- Grey DecoBob
- Navy Konfetti
- Navy DecoBob
- Chartreuse InvisiFil
- Mint Green DecoBob
- Macaw Green GlaMore
- 1 1/2" Grid Stencil
- Pounce Pad
and pulled one out of a hat to put on sale for you, my party guests.
Until January 28, 2021, all 2500 m spools of InvisiFil 100 weight polyester thread are 20% off! No coupon or code is needed; discount will be applied at checkout.
I finished my quilt with a faux flanged binding.
This technique is covered in my "Quilting Essentials: How to Bind a Quilt" class. That class costs $25, but is bundled with two other classes -- Quilting Essentials: How to Prep and Baste Your Quilt for Machine Quilting and Quilting Essentials: First Steps to Free-Motion Quilting. Those classes are worth $125 individually but are part of a "Finish Your Quilt" special for January 2021 and only cost $100 when purchased together.
I'm basting another quilt for Season Two of Party Animal Quilting. Tune in on Friday nights!
